WHAT IS IT FOR?

N.B This grant is suitable for candidates with satisfactory academic qualification as evidenced by examination results at the CXC Level. Financial need is also a major criterion for selection.

WHAT DOES IT COVER?

Duration : Two (2) years

Value : Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) per year

Candidates : Two (2) students will be selected, one (1) based on Merit and one (1) based on Financial Need

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A. MERIT GRANT
  1. Student must have attained a minimum of five (5) subjects at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) level at grades I or II.
  2. Student must be a member of the Credit Union for a minimum of one (1) year and have consistently contributed to their share deposits on a monthly basis for the past six (6) months. Monthly share contributions must reflect a minimum of twenty-five (25) shares and member must have a minimum share balance of five hundred dollars ($500.00).
  3. The Student’s parent(s) must be in satisfactory financial standing with the Credit Union, in accordance with standard TCU procedures.
  4. Original result slip and proof of acceptance into Form Six (and copies) must be submitted.
  5. Grant recipients must maintain a minimum of 65% on end-of-term grades for consideration of disbursement for Upper Six (extenuating circumstances such as illness and extreme life circumstances will be deliberated by the Committee).
B. NEED GRANT
  1. Parent must attach a letter to application form, briefly outlining their present financial situation, and must produce supporting documentation (payslip, rent receipts, other proof of expenses etc).
  2. Student must be a member of the Credit Union for a minimum of one (1) year and have consistently contributed to their share deposits on a monthly basis for the past six (6) months. Monthly share contributions must reflect a minimum of twenty-five (25) shares and member must have a minimum share balance of five hundred dollars ($500.00). The Committee will also examine the parent’s familial and social circumstances in determining the student’s selection.
  3. The Student’s parent(s) must be in satisfactory financial standing with the Credit Union (not delinquent), in accordance with standard TCU procedures.
  4. Original result slip and proof of acceptance into Form Six (and copies) must be submitted.
  5. Original result slip and proof of acceptance into Form Six (and copies) must be submitted.
  6. Grant recipients must maintain a minimum of 65% on end-of-term grades for consideration of disbursement for Upper Six (extenuating circumstances such as illness and extreme life circumstances will be deliberated by the Committee).
